HoloScript Runtime Integration

Overview

HoloScript runtimes are now fully integrated with the HoloScript parser, trait system, and execution environment. This document explains the complete architecture.

Components

1. Runtime Registry

Location: packages/core/src/runtime/RuntimeRegistry.ts

Central registry for discovering and executing HoloScript runtimes.

2. Runtime Modules

Each demo is now a registered runtime module consumed by Hololand.

Demolition Runtime

Location: packages/core/src/demos/demolition/demolition-runtime.ts

Capabilities:

  • Physics: Gravity, collision, constraints
  • Rendering: 120K particles, post-processing
  • Interaction: User input
  • Platforms: Unity, Unreal, WebXR, Godot, etc.

Future Runtimes

  • Avalanche Runtime - Snow/terrain physics
  • Erosion Runtime - Fluid dynamics, terrain erosion
  • Cloth Runtime - Soft body simulation
  • Fire Runtime - Combustion and gas dynamics
  • Ocean Runtime - FFT-based wave simulation

3. Runtime Executor Interface

All runtimes implement the standardized RuntimeExecutor interface:

Runtimes now consume HoloScript core systems:

Rendering Integration (NEW! ✨)

RuntimeRenderer System

HoloScript now has complete runtime rendering using Three.js!

Files:

  • RuntimeRenderer.ts - Abstract renderer interface (281 lines)
  • ThreeJSRenderer.ts - Three.js implementation (679 lines)
  • rendering-demo.html - Standalone browser demo

Features:

  • R3F Material Presets - 80+ materials extracted from R3FCompiler
  • PBR Rendering - Full physically-based rendering
  • Particle Systems - 120K+ particles with real-time updates
  • Lighting & Shadows - 5 light types with PCF soft shadows
  • Camera Control - Position, target, FOV
  • Statistics - FPS, draw calls, triangles, memory usage

  • Use runtime capabilities for code generation

Phase 6: Shared Components

  • Extract common particle systems
  • Share spatial hashing across runtimes
  • Create base physics integrator
